The smoother, the more durable

If two or more moving materials rub against each other, this causes friction and, with that, wear. This results in material damage, maintenance and repair costs. The reduction in wear and friction therefore offers an opportunity to increase the efficiency of machines and systems and to prevent damage to valuable resources.

In tribology, mechanical engineers, physicists and materials scientists are carrying out interdisciplinary research to find improved friction and wear behavior as well as the ideal lubricant. Ideal would be a surface that is created in such a way that virtually no or only minimal wear is caused. There are only a few target and friction points between two optimally adapted material combinations – which means wear can be considerably reduced.

Nanogate-Technologie® plays an important role in this goal. An ultra-thin, but very resistant coating can be optimally adapted to the application by using wet chemical or electrochemical processes. Functions such as temperature resistant, high material hardness as well as ultra-smooth can be combined with each other.

This minimizes friction and wear and considerably lengthens the service life of the enhanced components.

Using nanoGlide®, motor components are more reliable and bearings, running wheels, joints and shaping tools, i.e. highly stressed materials, are subject to less wear. The advantages pay off quickly due to the extended time between maintenance, longer life and, with that, increased productivity.
